Killed Dup Detector and now trying CCleaner ( free at ) Heck, I use CCleaner (free version) all the time and forgot that it had that feature, here's the CCleaner window and what it can do. While bored and waiting I Googled for 'find duplicate files' and that told me that CCleaner does duplicate finding. seems slow to increase % but as there's no "activity" displayed I don't know where it is checking at the time. I ticked "Create Report" and am now waiting until it finishes to see what I get. I copied some images into a sub-folder of Pictures and am now testing to see what happens when I point it to Pictures folder. It very slowly builds the blue bar with a percentage of how far the test has gone. It's a bit weird, no logical (to me) feedback, it simply takes the folder name and gets to work silently, so far no duplicates found so need to set up a test for it.
Now is the time to try it and see what happens on my messy computers. Windows doesn't like it as an "unknown" but no problems so far after it was installed. On my desktop I found Dup Detector that I installed but never got around to the task intended, so is untested by me. I have tens of thousands of photos and I am looking for a good tool to use to remove the many duplicates that I have managed to mess up my library with.
